Tacx Boost: no virtual shifting
The Tacx Boost has no electronic resistance control, so BikeControl can't change its resistance and virtual shifting is not possible on it — in any app.
The Tacx Boost with BikeControl
Status
No
No electronic resistance control, so there is nothing for virtual shifting to change.
Why the Tacx Boost can't shift virtually
Virtual shifting works by changing resistance: every gear change is a command to the trainer to make pedalling harder or easier. The Tacx Boost sets its resistance mechanically, so there is nothing for BikeControl — or a trainer app — to command.
What BikeControl can still do
BikeControl still maps a controller's buttons to trainer-app actions — menus, emotes and on-screen controls in apps such as Zwift, MyWhoosh and TrainingPeaks Virtual. Gear changes just won't change how hard you pedal on this trainer.
