About BikeControl

BikeControl is a controller-bridging app for indoor cyclists that lets any supported Bluetooth controller or smart trainer work with any trainer app.

The app sits between the hardware and the software. A controller — a Zwift Click, a Shimano Di2 or SRAM AXS shifter, a gamepad, a Bluetooth remote — pairs to BikeControl, and BikeControl passes the rider’s input to Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, TrainingPeaks Virtual, Biketerra or another trainer app as virtual shifting, steering, braking, workout intensity, in-app navigation, or an operating-system shortcut.

What is BikeControl?

BikeControl is a controller-bridging app for indoor cyclists that lets any supported Bluetooth controller or smart trainer work with any trainer app. It is a separate app from the trainer apps it works with, installed on the rider’s phone, tablet or computer.

It covers three areas: control of the trainer app (virtual shifting, steering, braking, workout intensity, mode switching, in-app navigation), virtual shifting on any FTMS or FE-C smart trainer paired directly to BikeControl, and operating-system actions such as media controls, screenshots and keyboard shortcuts.

Who makes BikeControl?

BikeControl — published under the name SwiftControl until early 2026 — is developed by OpenBikeControl UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a limited-liability company registered in Germany. Its creator is Jonas Bark.

The same company publishes the app on the App Store, Google Play and the Microsoft Store, and maintains the source code on GitHub.

Why is BikeControl also called SwiftControl?

SwiftControl is the former name of BikeControl. The app was renamed in early 2026. Both names refer to the same app, the same developer and the same App Store, Google Play and Microsoft Store listings.

The rename changed nothing about the product: feature parity is identical and every purchase made under the SwiftControl name carried over. Any mention of SwiftControl in an indoor-cycling context refers to the app now called BikeControl.

What is OpenBikeControl?

OpenBikeControl is an open standard and open-hardware initiative for indoor cycling. It defines a vendor-neutral protocol that trainer apps and controller manufacturers can adopt, and affordable open controller hardware is in development. BikeControl is part of the OpenBikeControl project and uses its protocol; MyWhoosh, Rouvy and TrainingPeaks Virtual have implemented that protocol natively.

Which platforms does BikeControl run on?

iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Windows and Android. Apple TV is supported indirectly: BikeControl runs on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows PC on the same network, and the trainer app on the Apple TV connects to it over WiFi.

Is BikeControl open source?

The source code is public at github.com/OpenBikeControl/bikecontrol. The app riders install is proprietary and is distributed through the App Store, Google Play and the Microsoft Store.

Is BikeControl affiliated with Zwift, MyWhoosh or trainer manufacturers?

No. BikeControl is not affiliated with Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, TrainingPeaks, Wahoo, Shimano or SRAM. It is an independent third-party app that interoperates with their products.

MyWhoosh, Rouvy and TrainingPeaks Virtual are official partners in the sense that they have implemented native support for the OpenBikeControl protocol; BikeControl itself is developed independently. All product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

What does BikeControl cost?

BikeControl is free to download and free to try. The Base version is a one-time purchase; BikeControl Pro is a subscription that adds a cross-platform license, cloud sync for keymaps, advanced button logic and unlimited virtual shifting. Each app store sets its own regional prices.

The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

Where is BikeControl distributed?

Through the three official app stores:

How can BikeControl be contacted?

Support runs through the in-app support chat and support@bikecontrol.app. Bug reports and feature requests are handled on GitHub. Community discussion happens in the BikeControl subreddit and the BikeControl Facebook group.
