Use Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND with any other trainer app

Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND
Trainer app
your trainer app
Does it work?
Yes
Through BikeControl, with the keys you map
You record the keys or screen taps your app uses once, in BikeControl's keymap editor.
BikeControl sets the Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND's fan speed itself over Bluetooth, from buttons on your controller, while you ride your trainer app. Your trainer app never has to know the fan is there.
What to know about Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND with your trainer app
- What the Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND does
- The Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND is a fan, not a controller: it has no buttons to send to your trainer app. BikeControl drives it directly over Bluetooth, and a controller's buttons can set its speed, step it up or down, or switch it to heart-rate mode.
- Connection
- The fan itself needs no connection to your trainer app; this is for your controller's other buttons. Any of the three methods, depending on what your app accepts. Network: BikeControl reaches the app over your Wi-Fi, so it can run on a different device. Bluetooth: the app pairs with BikeControl like a Bluetooth controller, so BikeControl runs on a second device next to it. Local: BikeControl presses keys and taps on the device it runs on, so it has to run on the same device as the app.
- Platforms
- Trainer apps on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, macOS, and Windows. Apple TV works over Network, with BikeControl on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows PC.
- Trial, Base and Pro
- You can check that BikeControl works with your setup before you buy: the trial lasts 5 days with up to 80 controller actions a day (7 days on Windows, without a daily cap). After that you get 15 controller actions a day until you buy Base, a one-time purchase of about $4.99. Pro (about $2.50/month) adds three actions per button, use on all your platforms, and BikeControl's own virtual shifting, which you can try for 20 minutes a day, a daily trial of Pro.
