What to know about Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND with MyWhoosh
- What the Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND does
- The Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND is a fan, not a controller: it has no buttons to send to MyWhoosh. BikeControl drives it directly over Bluetooth, and a controller's buttons can set its speed, step it up or down, or switch it to heart-rate mode.
- Connection
- The fan itself needs no connection to MyWhoosh; this is for your controller's other buttons. MyWhoosh works with Network or Local. Network: BikeControl reaches the app over your Wi-Fi, so it can run on a different device. Local: BikeControl presses keys and taps on the device it runs on, so it has to run on the same device as the app.
- Platforms
- MyWhoosh on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, macOS, and Windows. Apple TV works over Network, with BikeControl on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows PC.
- Official support
- MyWhoosh supports BikeControl officially through the open OpenBikeControl protocol, on every platform including Apple TV.
- Trial, Base and Pro
- You can check that BikeControl works with your setup before you buy: the trial lasts 5 days with up to 80 controller actions a day (7 days on Windows, without a daily cap). After that you get 15 controller actions a day until you buy Base, a one-time purchase of about $4.99. Pro (about $2.50/month) adds three actions per button, use on all your platforms, and BikeControl's own virtual shifting, which you can try for 20 minutes a day, a daily trial of Pro.
How to use Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND with MyWhoosh
Install BikeControl
Install BikeControl on iOS, Android, Windows or macOS — on the device that runs your trainer app, or on a phone or tablet next to it.
Pair the Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND
Pair the Wahoo KICKR HEADWIND with BikeControl over Bluetooth, together with the controller whose buttons should change the fan speed.
Map the fan actions
Assign fan actions to your controller's buttons: set a speed (0, 25, 50, 75 or 100 %), step the speed up or down, or switch to heart-rate mode.
Ride
Ride MyWhoosh as usual. BikeControl changes the fan speed directly, so no connection to MyWhoosh is needed for the fan.
