How to get virtual shifting on the Tacx Flux S

  1. Install BikeControl. Install BikeControl on iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac.
  2. Pair the Tacx Flux S. Pair the Tacx Flux S directly to BikeControl over Bluetooth.
  3. Add a controller. Pair a controller — a Zwift Click, Play, Di2 levers, SRAM AXS, or any of the others BikeControl supports.
  4. Configure gear ratios. Customize gear ratios inside BikeControl to match your real bike or preferred range.
  5. Start your app. Start any trainer app and ride. BikeControl changes resistance at the Tacx Flux S as you shift, so the app does not need virtual shifting of its own.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Tacx Flux S support virtual shifting?

The Tacx Flux S is an FTMS-compatible smart trainer, so it is expected to work with BikeControl virtual shifting. BikeControl applies each gear change as a resistance change at the trainer, so you get real gears in any trainer app.

Which controllers work with the Tacx Flux S?

Every controller BikeControl supports works with the Tacx Flux S — Zwift Click v2, Zwift Click, Zwift Play, Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS / eTap and CYCPLUS BC2 Virtual Shifter are the popular ones. BikeControl changes resistance at the trainer itself, so the controller and the trainer never need to know about each other.

Which apps can I use with the Tacx Flux S?

Any of them. BikeControl changes resistance at the trainer rather than asking the app to shift, so virtual shifting works in Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, TrainingPeaks and Biketerra alike — including apps with no native virtual shifting.

Can I customize the gear ratios?

Yes. Gear configurations are fully customizable in BikeControl with 1 to 30 gears, named configurations, and a drag-to-tune curve preview.

Is virtual shifting free in BikeControl?

Virtual shifting is included for up to 20 minutes per day in the free/base version. BikeControl Pro (around 2.50 EUR/USD per month) removes the time limit.
