CycPlus BC2 Virtual Shifter: Setup Guide for Every Trainer App
By Jonas Bark · 2026-07-10
The CycPlus BC2 is a compact two-button Bluetooth shifter that straps to your handlebars and costs about $25. It originally shipped as a bundle item with CYCPLUS trainers — but with BikeControl, it works with every major trainer app: MyWhoosh, Zwift, Rouvy, Biketerra, TrainingPeaks Virtual, and more.
This guide covers what the BC2 does well, where it falls short, and how to set it up with each app.

What the CycPlus BC2 Is
A minimal virtual shifting remote: two buttons, USB-C rechargeable, strap mount. It is the smallest dedicated controller we've tested, and at around $25 it is our pick for best budget option in our full controller comparison.
The build is solid. Our one hardware criticism after extended use: the buttons could use more travel — you feel the click, but less distinctly than on Zwift's own hardware, and you can't comfortably rest a finger on the button between presses.
What sets it apart at this price: long press works. That matters more than it sounds. With BikeControl, each button supports single click and long press — and with BikeControl Pro, double click too. Two physical buttons become up to six actions: shift on single clicks, steer on long presses, U-turn or screenshot on double clicks. The similarly priced Thinkrider VS200 only reports button-down events, so it stays a two-action device no matter what you pair it with.
What You Need
- The CycPlus BC2 (from CYCPLUS directly or the usual online marketplaces)
- BikeControl on iOS, Android, macOS, or Windows
- Your trainer app of choice
There is no manual pairing step. Power the BC2 on, open BikeControl, and it appears in the device list automatically.
Setup by Trainer App
BikeControl connects to each app the way that app understands best. Pick yours:
MyWhoosh
MyWhoosh has no native controller support of its own — controller input in MyWhoosh runs through the official BikeControl integration, built on the OpenBikeControl protocol (MyWhoosh 5.7.0 and later). Select MyWhoosh in BikeControl, enable the Network connection, then tap the OpenBikeControl icon on MyWhoosh's connection screen. It works across devices too — BikeControl on your phone, MyWhoosh on a PC or Apple TV.
→ Step-by-step: Use the CycPlus BC2 with MyWhoosh
Rouvy
Rouvy supports the BC2 natively — and Rouvy is also an official BikeControl partner. Why still use BikeControl? Remapping. Native support gives you shifting; BikeControl adds steering on long press, workout intensity control, media buttons, and gestures. Connect via Network (most setups) or Bluetooth (recommended on iOS, where it stays reliable in the background).
→ Step-by-step: Use the CycPlus BC2 with Rouvy
Zwift
Zwift doesn't recognize the BC2 on its own. BikeControl bridges it: the BC2 pairs to BikeControl, and BikeControl talks to Zwift over your network — including Zwift on Apple TV.
→ Step-by-step: Use the CycPlus BC2 with Zwift
TrainingPeaks Virtual
The deepest integration of any partner app: 28 mappable actions, from shifting and steering to interval skips and camera views. Both Network and Bluetooth connections work.
→ Step-by-step: Use the CycPlus BC2 with TrainingPeaks Virtual
Biketerra
BikeControl connects via keyboard simulation on the same device — the BC2's clicks become the keystrokes Biketerra expects.
→ Step-by-step: Use the CycPlus BC2 with Biketerra
Any Other App
If a trainer app accepts keyboard, controller, or touch input, BikeControl can drive it with the BC2.
→ Use the CycPlus BC2 with other training apps
Virtual Shifting on Any Trainer — Not Only CYCPLUS
You don't need a CYCPLUS trainer for the BC2 to shift gears. Pair any FTMS smart trainer (FTMS is the standard Bluetooth protocol most modern trainers speak) directly to BikeControl, and BikeControl adds virtual shifting in any app — with fully custom gear ratios, from 1 to 30 steps, saved as named configs like "Climb day" or "Sprint workout." The BC2's two buttons handle the shifts; in ERG mode the same buttons adjust your watt target instead. One mapping, the right behavior in the right mode.
Recommended Button Layout
| Gesture | Action |
|---|---|
| Top button, single click | Shift up |
| Bottom button, single click | Shift down |
| Top button, long press | Steer right |
| Bottom button, long press | Steer left |
| Double click (Pro) | U-turn / screenshot / your pick |
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the CycPlus BC2 work with Zwift?
Yes, through BikeControl — Zwift doesn't detect it natively. BikeControl pairs to the BC2 and passes shifts to Zwift, including Zwift on Apple TV.
Does the CycPlus BC2 work with MyWhoosh?
Yes. MyWhoosh's controller support is the official BikeControl integration, and the BC2 works with it like every other supported device.
Do I need a CYCPLUS trainer to use the BC2?
No. The BC2 works as a standalone controller with any setup, and BikeControl can add virtual shifting to any FTMS smart trainer.
How does the BC2 charge?
USB-C. No coin cells to replace.
CycPlus BC2 or Thinkrider VS200?
The BC2. Same price and form factor, but the BC2 supports long press (more actions per button) and has better button feel.
Is there a daily unlock like the Zwift Click V2?
No. The BC2 uses an open Bluetooth connection — pair it once and it keeps working.
